Opened in 1990 after a complete renovation, the Lopez de Haro rapidly has become established as the five star hotel, in Bilbao, with a reputation for excellence in customer service. Frank Gehry chose the hotel as a base of operations for design and development of the Guggenheim Museum, drawing the first sketch on  paper with the letterhead of López de Haro.
